James Corden gives Tim Cook a 'Carpool Karaoke' ride to Apple Event
TOPICS:
AppleSAN FRANCISCO (SBG) — Tim Cook arrived at Wednesday's highly anticipated Apple Event in style, with a little help from a comedian known for his love of the carpool lane - James Corden.
The Apple CEO joined the host of CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" for a round of the program's hit "Carpool Karaoke" segment.
The ride to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium began with Corden grilling Cook for details on the tech giant's latest products.
"What are you gonna talk about? Is there any insider information you can give me?" Corden asked.
"We're gonna talk about some great stuff," Cook answered, failing to stifle a laugh.
"That just sounds like a press release," Corden shot back.
But the English funnyman did manage to confirm at least one rumor about the new iPhone 7.
"Is this true? I've read that the security on the new iPhone is going to be the best of its kind," Corden asked.
"Absolutely," Cook replied.
"Do you know how I read that?" Corden asked. "A leak on the internet. Do you see the irony of that?"
Cook did.
Apple fans did at least get to find out what Siri - the voice and personal assistant of all iOS devices - really thinks of her boss.
"He's wonderful, but scheduling his appointments is crazy," the robotic tone said of Cook.
Siri also offered her thoughts on Corden. "This is about you, not me," she told him.
Of course, it wouldn't be "Carpool Karaoke" without Corden and his passenger(s) blasting tunes and singing along.
The duo jammed to One Republic's "I Lived" and was later joined by Pharrell for a rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama."
Apple Music in July announced it was purchasing the rights for a 16-part "Carpool Karaoke" spin-off series, to be executive produced by Corden.
Wednesday's Apple Event, which introduced the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple Watch Series 2, AirPods, iOS 10 and the latest watchOS, closed with a performance by Sia.
