A special proposal ahead of senior citizen prom
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — With signs and flowers in hand, Loyola Blakefield students waited patiently outside Kathy Dickinson’s house Friday morning with a big question to ask.
Kathy was prom-posed to by four boys hoping to take her on a trip down memory lane.
“I’ve got to get a prom dress I guess, or maybe I can find something,” she said.
Among the boys, is her own grandson, who will take her to the senior citizen prom at Loyola hosted by Avila Home Care and the Alzheimer’s Association.
It’s a chance for seniors like Kathy to not only have a great time but relive their prom memories from so many years ago.
They’ll even be able to pick the songs they want to hear.
It’s been a really tough last few years for people, and being social and coming together and remembering good music and sharing good food, we thought would be a great event for folks,” said Gretchen Maneval.
It’s a night of free fun for those young and old.
“I don’t think it should make a difference if I take a senior or someone my age, as long as they have fun,” said Edward Sinclair.
The prom is Sunday, April 23rd from 1-3 p.m. at Loyola Blakefield School
All senior citizens are welcome to the Walk Down Memory Lane Prom event. Also invited is a "plus one" family member, friend, or professional caregiver.
